Waist不是尺寸，而是腰围。Waist意思是腰、腰部、腰围。在欧洲和美国，W表示衣服的腰围。腰围，即经脐部中心的水平围长，或肋最低点与髂嵴上缘两水平线间中点线的围长，用软尺在呼气之末、吸气未开始时测量。
身高腰围指数=(腰节围/身高)×100.腰臀比=腰节围/臀围，这两项指数男性大于女性，差别较为明显。
最小腰围：指肋弓和髂嵴之间腰部最细处的水平围长。在呼气之末、吸气未开始时测量，用软尺为宜。
腰节点：在腋中线上，髂嵴上缘与肋骨下缘之间的中点。在水平面上，两侧腰节点围成的线称为腰节线。
